Anthracite
$29.00
This is a book that I wasn't expecting to happen. I had no project planned, and yet one happened.
The book is called Anthracite and it was taken on a visit to the Pennsylvania town of Shamokin. It's a town I believed to be broken down, barely scraping by. But I was wrong about that.
What I found was a town very much alive. It was a town far more walkable than the city in which I live. Without a college or tourist industry to prop it up, this town has found a way to keep itself thriving.
This is not a cute village with a revitalized downtown. It's a town still digging itself out of its own history. But it is surviving, and I think it will survive.
The book is maybe a bit different from most photography books. But then, maybe we need that sometimes.
